Todd Kuhen

Todd Kuhnen comes to Penney & Associates as a trial lawyer with over 20 years of practice in the courtroom.  He has litigated both civil and criminal cases in multiple jurisdictions, including California and Tennessee, with the overwhelming majority of these cases having been trials in front of a Jury.  Because of his vast courtroom experience, Mr. Kuhnen has often been called upon to supervise and mentor newer attorneys in numerous areas of trial preparation, including presentation of evidence, opening statements, closing arguments, jury selection, direct and cross examination to name just a few.

With Penney & Associates, Mr. Kuhnen now uses the litigation skills he’s acquired over his 20+ year career to handle all types of personal injury cases.  This includes wrongful death, catastrophic injury, motor vehicle accidents, product liability, premises liability, dog bite and most other causes of action that relate to personal injury.  He believes that while most cases end up settling short of trial, handling each case as if it were going to trial is still the best practice.  Although Mr. Kuhnen practices throughout the state of California, his primary office location is in Roseville, California.

Born and raised in Northern California, Mr. Kuhnen first studied at Yuba Community College in Marysville, California.  Academically, he focused on Mass Communications.  He was also a member of the Yuba College track team where his events included running the 400m, anchoring the sprint relays, and throwing the Javelin.  He has found that the discipline required to compete at the collegiate level prepared him significantly for his career as a trial attorney.

After completing his Junior College degree, Todd transferred to Brigham Young University in Utah to continue his academic career.  In 1995 he graduated with a degree in Japanese and returned to California to pursue his law degree that same year.  In 1998 Todd received his J.D. degree from California Western School of Law in San Diego.
